Hi xav
Here are few prisons from South Africa (urban and rural)
The data was geocoded from the National map series and should be fairley accurate (1:50 000)

Here's all Danish prisons, except those already in the collection, 16 in all. One is a detention facility for asylum seekers, Sandholmlejren, maybe it should be excluded.
BTW: This collection needs an update.

First ever Google Earth post so forgive any minor (and please correct any major) protocol errors.
Awesome thread. Just to take a tour anywhere with the prison layer enabled is an education. Education in what is still TBD. Are there as many prisons as webcams?
I see a couple of MIA's from the CDC, (california dept. of corr.) and I will fill in the blanks as I figure out placemarks and such.
Also, there are a number of firecamps that the CDC runs where inmates live very well as front line wildland firefighters attached to the Cal Dept. of Foresty but are still technically prisoners in prison. I know this from some personal experience, also know that Kevin Mintnik wasn't the only hacker to do time. But that's for another forum, so back to the topic. There are 33 southern camps with about 100+ inmates each starting with McCain Valley near San Diego (where I'm from)up to Growlersburg (where I went) in El Dorado County near Lake Tahoe. Inmates from those camps all trained at Jamestown, (officially Sierra Conservation Center but really the only Level 1 with active gun towers and riots weekly) near Sonora. The Northern camps I'll let someone who trained at Susanville (California Conservation Center, in pictures, identical to Jamestown) fill you in on. If you are interested, and I'm not fast enough that info should get you started. I think they rate, and they all had signs at the gate saying "State Prison". Not a fence in sight though. Just post every few feet marked Camp Limits.
Let me know.
Thanks again, and to all the people who contributed.
Ciao.
P.S. Oh yeah, here is a list of every single prison and jail in the Americas ever built prior to 1492. I'm going back 20000 years so bear with me.

Hi Do you have any plans on creating a map with all of the prisons on it?

This actually is not a prison, is a old fort, that later became a monestary, and now it's a turism site

I was just released from Pontiac Correctional Center on December 11, 2006. I came across this on Google Earth, and thought that if anyone was interested in the reality of life behind the walls of Pontiac that they may find an article I wrote that was published in the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center's newspaper informative: http://lists.chambana.net/mailman/archive/bookstoprisoners/2005-August/000090.html This is my first posting, so apologies for any breaches of internet protocol etc.
