Otras "Inundaciones": Florida (USA) , San Francisco (USA) , Nueva York (USA) , Rio do Janeiro (Brasil)

Many times we heard about how much would rise the sea level due to polar ice melting. Someone says 30 mts, others 15, others 8...who knows..
Truth is there are many people living at shores around the world and they would be seriously affected.
This GIS graphics animation shows what would happend to a piece of Argentine and Uruguay shores if the sea level rises 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 meters.
It´s very difficult to calculate the impact such kind of flood would cause. Think in Buenos Aires downtown, few people lives there but many thousands go to work everyday to that part of the city. The economy would be affected as 90% of export sales goes out trough Buenos Aires Harbour.
Not to make the file so big I didn´t create the upstreams flooded areas. But both Paraná and Uruguay rivers would be seriously flooded, bringing caos at big cities like Rosario and Santa Fé in Argentina and Fray Bentos in Uruguay.
Based on NASA SRTM with 90 meters resolution.
Tips: Once downloaded clic in the "Clock" and setup as shown:
Then, clic in "Play" (2)
Direct download kmz File
Others "Floods": Florida (USA) , San Francisco (USA) , Nueva York (USA) , Rio do Janeiro (Brasil)

Jerardo -
This is super! Very well done. But scary, since I live very close to the ocean.

Hi diane
Sorry I wasn´t aware of your reply.

I...really didn´t think that this could be so scary...But you are right. Anyway, if something like this happens, it´s going to take some time, I think.
And, going deeper in my soul, I would like to say that everything that happens to each of us is not a problem but an opportunity to learn, to be a better person...if life (which I understands it as a School) puts in front of us such thing...well, maybe because we need something like this to learn something we need to.
To all of you who may feel scary, remember that you and only you "builds" the fear inside. If you want, in a second, there will be no fear anymore.
Regards
