London Underground Stations and Routes
This collection contains placemarks for the locations of all the London Undergound ( Tube ) stations and GE paths for the routes of each line.
Version info
Version: 34 This collection was last updated on 6 June 2007 (Please see my replies to this post for details.)
Collection details
The description bubble of each station placemark includes links to: a very brief history of the station a link to more information (such as station facilities and nearby pubs) where available, a link to live arrival boards (they look just like the dot-matrix displays on the platform)
The Google Earth paths for each line route are drawn in the respective colour of the line. You can view a fly-through of each route by selecting a path and clicking the 'play' button. (Paths follow the centre of all tracks where appropriate.)
Only stations in passeneger service are included
See also, A brief animated history of the Tube, a time-based collection of track sections showing the development of the Underground system (requires version Beta4 of the GE client).
(Note: Although this is now no longer an update of Phil's collection, credit is due to Phil Verney for his excellent original collection of London Underground stations in the previous high resolution area; For reference, Phil's original update can be found here.)

Hello,
I've updated this collection to improve the view of stations in the new high resolution area just west of London.
Please see the edited original post for the new download...
Cheers,
Simon.

Hello,
I've updated this collection to add: a very brief history of each station a link to more information (such as station facilities and nearby pubs) where available, a link to live arrival boards (they look just like the dot-matrix displays on the platform)
Currently, arrival boards are only available for the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern, Victoria and (some) Metropolitan line stations.
I've also reloacted and improved the perspectives of many of the stations in the high resolutions area (which now sit seperately from Phil's original collection).
Please see the edited original post for the new download...
Cheers,
Simon.

Hello,
I've updated this collection again following the image update, which includes a much higher resultion in Greater London.
I've also improved the icon; the old one kept distorting.

Love it! I spent last summer studying in London, and I use Google Earth to recall all the great memories, and this makes locating things so much easier.

Hello,
I've included Google Earth paths for each route of each line in this collection.
I realise this has been done before, by fotorob, but the locations of some of the stations in that collection were out by quite a distance so this should be more accurate.
The information I have for some lines is a little patchy - please let me know of any route mistakes...

Wow, that's a lot of work (and I know 'cause i've manually traced several of the lines myself). The hidden underground stuff seems remarkably accurate, so did you translate them from another format (or just guess)?

Hello,
Thanks, I have a very good copy of the London A-Z (circa 1983) which shows the LU tracks in tunnel as dotted lines.
Unfortunately, being from that period, the Jubilee line extension is not there and some sections of other lines just don't show up so there was an element of educated guesswork as well.
That Quail Map Company also produced (and possibly still does) a track diagram for the network; whilst it doesn't show the geographical location of lines, it does show where one crosses another, which is helpful.
Let me know if you find any inaccuracies or know of other data sources...
Cheers,
Simon.
