Cannot find Proxima Centauri / Alpha Centauri

Find Andromeda? Not a problem!
Pacman Nebula? Easy!
The sun's nearest neighbour? Erm.... How about this nice picture of Rigel?

Why can I not find Proxima Centauri or its partner Alpha Centauri? Did I miss something?

try typing in Rigel Kentaurus

Seems like you can also just search for "centauri" and you'll get a list of choices. One of them shows "α2 Centauri" which will show you at least one of the stars in that system.

"alpha Cen" works fine.
All constellations have 3-letter codes, and the online databases all use them. But yes, the list given by "Centauri" will give you some choices, too.
