Feakins Check again --that location is 250m outside the search area .
Add> Placemark> put the placemark exactly on the location> Copy the Lat + Lon co-ords from the pop up box

OK--You are looking well outside the search area--that image you are looking at was taken on 29/07/2003. Its of no value in the search for Steve Fossett. You need to get hold of the current images taken last week.
Take a minute and read this FAQ

Do you think they will extend the search are with with updates images of the satelite, close to the last position detected of the plane.?
Also is important do you know if there is a RADIO AFFICIONATED group on the area, will be important to put this people in Alert, as they can receive signals in almost all the frequencies and they are always listening some of them record all day. this can be a tool also.

As each day passes --the prospects for a happy outcome fade. The fact that 6 unknown plane crash sites have been found in this area -shows how hard the task is. See this episode of Man v Wild shot in the Sierra Nevada .
It gives some idea of the terrain and what Fossett is up against

I would appreciate it is someone else with different gear would look a this
"macdoc 1" lat=38.5843401273, lon=-119.24611447
Could not get much detail.
TIA
It is in the search area and it looks like a track going se to nw - but could be an abandoned vehicle as well.
file added - screen shot for orientation

It does not seem like a natural feature.
Could you (and anyone else) please attach kmz files to your findings. IF anyone actually spot the plane, its too hard to track without.
I have seen plenty of coordinates here, that did not work in my G-earth.
You simply place a marker and right click it, then select save as and name the file. later when you write your post, you attach the kmz file, like you would attach an image.
