I thought at first the older maps showed no marks on the same ridge but looks like they were there before

BTW I passed that ridge line site on to the search coordinator directly - excellent find.
Please DO NOT do that. They must be getting hundreds and hundreds of calls. They can use our help but we have to go through the system that has now been set up (Amazon Mechanical Turk) so that they aren't fielding hundreds of calls for the same thing - even if it is relevant.

Hi Thanks for your help ..
Your point is outside the search area. (In an area composed of OLDER IMAGES which cannot reveal Fosset's plane..
Just to let you know...
Try searching inside the DARK green area.. You have to have the GEOEYE Ikonos 1m layer opened!!!...
(this is the only area with images after Fosset disappearance... be sure to be searching inside the dark green area..)
Try searching on MTURK.com - and enter Fosset in search or click the link provided
try first using this link : http://www.mturk.com/mturk/searchbar?selectedSearchType=hitgroups&searchWords=fosset
Click on the view in google earth inside this post for a new KMZ file with Planes found...

i have measured the size of the geoeye scanned area. it extends east from the ranch some 30 miles, and a max of 50 miles southeast of the ranch. that is 20 minutes flight for a decathlon at cruise. good chances are the airplane wil be outside the scanned area. not to be a defeatist, but at this stage the scanned area must have been reviewed by dozens if not hundreds of people.

Lisa, I honestly think you've got Fossett's plane.
There are four photographs of the actual plane here:
http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N240R.html
The similarities are stunning. In your sighting, you can see blue, white and orange in the wing and tail, and it's all a good match for his plane. Even the blue tip of the real plane's wing matches the blue tip of your sighting.
Looks to me like you're looking at half a plane though and the rest is concealed by undergrowth. If you enable the terrain, you can see that it's half-way up a peak on the side of a valley. If you follow that valley North East, you will arrive at KZ ROSASCHI AIR PARK. In fact, the runway can be seen in the distance from the crash site.
A sighting to get excited about I think.
