Are we going to get new satellite photos? [Re: vanaj]
      #1023488 - 10/09/07 08:11 AM

A week ago we were supposed there was great optimism that we were going to be starting on new satellite photos, but we are still rehashing photos that have been gone over several times. Are we going to be getting new photos or new intelligence helps us focus in on the most probably search area? Winter is quickly moving in to the high mountain areas and it seems we are spinning our wheels and getting no where.

I really want to keep up the effort to find Steve Fossett, but I do not want to be wasting my time on a futile effort (the MTurk search) that has been written off as a useful search tool and they are not interested in providing us with new imagery or guidance as to where to search.

None of us who are still searching for Steve Fossett want to give up the search for him, but if we are not covering new areas and using the best available information to determine where we should be looking we are wasting our time and not helping to achieve the ultimate objective.

Quick question (actually 3 questions)
-
The answer to these are probably in the hundreds of pages posted so far, but

1. have all of the post 9/3 Mechanical Turk images been reviewed? I have used Mechanical Turk, but as mentioned in a post above, it is difficult to go back and forth between that and Google Earth for those of us who are not experts at this.

2. Have all post 9/3 images that are on Google Earth also been put on Mechanical Turk (are there any post 9/3 images on Google Earth that have not been converted yet to be reviewed by Mechanical Turk users?)

3. Last question - is there an effort being made to provide pictures of more areas either on Mechanical Turk and/or Google Earth?

Thank you much!!

Exactly, and what a coincidence that the Supreme Court just ruled again against those who try to sue to get information released. The first time that upheld the State Secrets Privilege arose from a 1953 Supreme Court ruling that allowed the executive branch to keep secret, even from the court, details about a military plane’s fatal crash. In other words, as my social studies teacher would enjoy depicting, they have turned the court into mitten knitters on this one.

Not to mention the "earthquakes" that are happening near Hawthorne right now...

Earthquake was a minor one today..here is map on GE of location

http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nn00221779.kml

And now we can update our quotes from the state spokesman...

.....said he was less bothered by the destruction of the files because earthquakes were happening.
Good thing he didn't fall down a mining shaft while "investigating", and then they blamed the quakes on him, like the Utah Mining Accident.

Care to give us a link or tell us WHOM your quote is from..posting an article from over 30 days ago is not useful..
