Hello aladdin,
Undoubtedly a Superb effort(!!!); but you could have made sure your placemarks are placed atleast approximately near the correct location.
Refering to some of the World Heritage sites in India:
In the case of the Chhtrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus( formerly known as the Victoria Terminus) in South Mumbai, India, you have placed your placemark at the waters edge roughly in the north-east corner of the very popular Appolo Pier, in the area some 450 feet north of the Gateway of India.
The actual C. S. T. is 1.85 kms. to the north, clearly marked by many placemarks and Panaramio photos, and clearly recognisable by anyone familiar with Mumbai; the GE pointer shows it at 18 * 56' 23.7" N and 72* 50' 6.41" E . and clearly visible on GE.
The Qutub Minar in Delhi, India, is also 'placed' wrong; the actual position of the monument is some 0.90 kms. north-west of your placemark and the GE pointer shows it at 28* 31' 27.64" N and 77* 11' 07.69" E and very clearly visible on GE. Mughal Emperor Humayun's Tomb (father of Akbar the Great), is also 'placed' wrong, the actual monument clearly visible on GE, the pointer at 28*35" 35.98 N and 77* 15" 02.72"E. Your wrong placemark is some 1.03 kms. south.
The world famous Taj Mahal, in Agra, is also 'placed' wrong; the actual monument, very clearly visible on GE, and on the pointer 27*10'29.66" N and 78* 02' 31.55" E, with your placemark some 1.23 kms south west of the actual location.
Agra Fort, again very clearly visible on GE, is 'placed' wrongly on the east bank of the Yamuna river instead of the west bank, on pointer 27*10' 42.45 " N and 78* 01' 23.49" E (this I have actually pinpointed on the garden opposite the Diwan i Khas [Audience Hall for Commoners in the fort] as the fort itself has a very large area.) Your placemark is some 1.28kms east of the Fort and on Yamuna's opposite bank.
Again, the world famous Ajanta caves are 'placed' wrong over the town adjoining the caves; the actual caves clearly visible on GE, are carved along a steep slope of the flat hills to the west of the placemark.
When I saw your placemark for the Old Churches and Convents of Old Goa (Velha Goa), one of the most spiritually stimulating places in the world......................... the placemark is on the banks of the river Mandovi in the correct area of the churches, but a trifle off from the main sacred area, I realise that the time you did your monumental work, the GE on these places may have been in low resolution and/ or the places are wrongly sited by the World Heritage website. geveN
