maybe they would correct it if it was an issue raised, but it wasnt, and of course JRCC and SAR are way to busy to be following what the press reports in any case, and there is so much reported they could never follow it all, not their fault i suppose.
there were other aircraft up flying around salmon arm that day and it was said it was pretty rough turbulence wise but im not sure at what altitudes
I believe in this particular search of ron boychuk ( not steve fossets) that the radar track is probably the best clue, there really isnt a lot of other information.
I have done some more work on this search primarily looking at a different track from last radar contact point than direct cat4, and in conjunction with other information i have accumulated (through my own means) and have this pretty much all narrowed down to generally two- three areas and a much higher percentage of one of those areas as the target at this time,
although i wont discuss the areas because it seems we are more to be directed by "the specialists" as to where to look and they dont seem to need our opinion at present, so my general but not fixed view on that is if they dont want to share what they know why should i share what i know.
If and when I am more sure of it all, Ill perhaps bring it in for discussion with those who would like to try and assess it with me or view my views.
that should be good for some old fashioned cursing and swearing and argumentive stuff as always LOL
and yes that crash in cranbrook was disastrous and a senior pilot as well, helicopters at that altitude are vulnerable if things go wrong, no time to do anything much at all. just nothing left to see there so the investigation will be hard to find the real cause. helo's get bird strikes a lot due to the altitudes they fly and the wind screens are really not bird proof, possible cause or blade strike as well could account for the fluttering type sounds or engine ingestion of one
My condolences to the families
