That’s a very interesting find. Too bad someone can’t come up with a few bucks, er—a, pounds in a grant for some ground penetrating radar or what ever high tech tool that would be appropriate to probe below.

I try to look at every new post in the History Illustrated Forum. I regard the rating system in GEC as hopelessly dysfunctional. My rating of your post may not match the official criteria, but may only mean that I regard it as significant work, and recommend it as worthy of the attention of our peers, a place in the Moderated Forum, and a chance to be listed in the top twenty posts on the Entrance page. Please don’t feel slighted if other members give it a lower rating. They may merely feel that in relationship to other recent posts, yours is slightly less worthy of a place on the Top Twenty List.
