The prosecution claimed he had the intent of causing a wreck to gain attention from his estranged wife. Defense claimed he was despondent and had attempted suicide but changed his mind at the last minute and ran from his vehicle. He was recently found guilty. The trial then went to the penalty phase where he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on July 15. For a more complete accounting see the Los Angeles Times.
