Google Earth Community: Art Shots

The view of the Ganges is awesome. It's interesting how these pics take on a quality of their own when viewed in isolation.

To to grab these images at a reasonable resolution for wallpaper, you can do the following: (forgive me if this is a bit tedious, but it only takes a few seconds when things are setup)

Set up your system
-------------------------
Set your graphics card to the highest possible resolution for 32-bit color. Also download and open a graphics program like ifanview

Set up the image
-------------------------
Point EV to your favorite eta, turn off road and borders, and anything active in the 'show-me' menu. Get rid of the side menu and expand EV to full screen.

Grab the screen
--------------------------
Type control-printscreen (hold down the control key while
typing the 'Print Screen' key). This copies the screen to the clipboard. If your screen is set to 1600*1200 it's a fairly detailed image

Crop the image
------------------------
Open the graphics program and type control-v to paste the image from the clipboard into the workspace. (In a pinch you can also use 'MS Word' as a graphics editor). Select the clear area to get rid of the frame (sorry EV) and 'crop' the image (control-y in irfanview)

Save the image
-------------------------
Now you can save the image as a .jpg, copy it to the clipboard, resize it or whatever. You can then use windows to select the image as wall paper, or select it with a screensaver program.
