I took a closer look at some details of the ship: the gun barrels on the rear turrets are barely visible but their shadows are there. Also visible is the motor launch next to the rear funnel. The funnel tops are in a fresh looking black. The Bigelow in the Navsource pictures has her barrels cut, the motor launch is missing and the funnels are grey.
As for Athens, have you noticed the second Fletcher class destroyer moored there? Velos (ex-DD-581 Charette) is preserved as a museum next to Georgios Averoff, but there is a second one moored near the fleet base. The last Fletcher in Greece (apart from Velos) was Aspis (ex-DD-582 Conner) which was sold for scrap in 1997. Could the imagery be that old?
