Does anyone have a working method for converting this kml into a google map. I would like to provide an map of these site to be included in my personal site. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, it's one of the easiest things to do..

The kml/kmz file must be accessible via the Internet. If you post your collection here (in the appropriate forum, of course), then that requirement is met.

Once the post is complete, right-click on the download link..

..select "Properties" from the right-click menu, and note the URL for the link. Highlight the URL..

In this case, it's http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=38617

Right-click-Copy (or press CTRL-C) to place the URL onto your clipboard, then close the properties box.

Go to Google Maps, right-click in the search box and select paste, which should insert the URL for the placemark. "Search Maps"

There ya go! Neat, huh?

Now, to add the finished map to your site.. Look in the upper right corner of the map..

Click on "Link to this page", which changes the URL in the address bar up top from the "regular" http://maps.google.com/maps to the actual URL including your added data. Use that URL on your web page to link to the map.

Congratulations! You've just created your first Google Maps Mashup!

BTW, This is an excellent way to share placemarks with someone who, for some strange reason, does not have Google Earth installed.

"We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we may have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest." - Stephen Schneider (leading advocate of the global warming theory), Discover magazine, Oct 1989.

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are..." -former Vice President Al Gore, Grist Magazine, May 9, 2006
