Mangala Exploration Fields - Cairns India found oil reserves (1 billion barrels) here.

The estimated oil reserves here (2P) is around 1,000 million barrels and recoverable reserves are around 300-400 mbl. The commercial production is expected to start in 2008 middle. If the present expectations are met, this will contribute to around 30% of Indian crude oil production and 12% of Indian total oil requiremetns.

The company found the oil deposits in 2002 Sep. But the development of Oil extraction infrastructure is in a very slow pace to get production after 6 years (Agaist typical 3 yrs). Also the company wants to take money back to its parent by IPO in India, even before production starts. These actions make observers a little suspectful about the quality and quantity of the oil find.
