I did a check for updates and it said a newer version was available so I downloaded and installed it. (The original version was 4.0.xxx, the new one was just an upgrade on the xxx) Now there's no GPS option in the Tool menu. This is the only reason I upgraded to Plus! I thought as a Plus subscriber you could post a support ticket to Googleearth but I can't seem to find how you do this.
