Google Earth Community: Matthew Flinders

Thanks for the fine welcome.

I was reading Flinders' journals on-line, and trying to follow them in Google Earth, so I put it all together and created this set of tours.

There are a few things I probably need to do to the tours, and release an updated version:

- the crowded arrival and departure points around Sydney (Port Jackson) and Wreck Reef need some better zooming or other change to make which voyage is starting or ending more obvious. Possibly a change in icon might help.

- pictures and their captions could be better formatted.

- The main text in the forum post and in the kmz file need to be synchronised, and contain more hyperlinks and resources to Flinders related material.

Overall it was quite a fun time I had in putting this together. Quite a lot of research had to go into finding the coordinates of the places that Flinders named - and matching them to modern geography (much of his naming is preserved), or sometimes geography much older - e.g. Dutch maps.

Any corrections that experts can provide, or other comments/suggestions, are welcome. I'd like a little feedback before I submit it to the GE Gallery. Thanks ...
