New Tools for Sky...
      09/07/07 03:54 PM

Hello All...

We've released some new tools to make putting your images and data into Sky easier. You can download them at the Google Code site.

The main tool is wcs2kml, which takes an image and World Coordinate System (WCS) header and produces a properly warped and registered image and associated kml file for displaying it as an overlay in Sky. That's available in both C++ and Python versions. The C++ version has the ability to regionate your image (similar to what regionator and Superoverlay do) as well. For large images, this can make serving your image over the web a much more pleasant experience. There are also a number of Python utilities for converting FITS images into PNGs and generating kml placemarks from FITS data tables.

The code is all open source, so feel free to download it, modify it to suit your own needs and even submit changes if you come up with something cool or interesting.
