GOES doesn't have enough resolution to see an airplane, but it does have enough resolution to see a plume of smoke. For example, the smoke from Twin Towers on 9/11 was clearly obvious in weather satellite photos. I was just hoping for a much smaller version of that. Sometimes when airplanes crash, they burn some brush around them which adds to the smoke plume.
