Here are placemarks for most of the world's crude oil refineries and their capacities. There is no way I got them all, and some are probably not in the exact location. Those include refineries that are grouped together, and in very low resolution areas. Please point out any incorrect locations and refineries not listed (with their capacities) because help is needed especially in these areas: Japan: Missing many, and the ones I have marked are probably not in the correct location. China: Missing many. Mostly the smaller CNCP (PetroChina) ones. Russia: Must be missing some. France: Same Italy: Same Germany: Maybe a few here too. Middle East: Iraq, and some smaller countries not listed. You can see most of this in list form at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oil_refineriesI updated most of the wikipedia list to reflect my placemarks. -------------
Note to readers: The OP (roadrunner) has not been on the BBS since December of 2005, and it is doubtful that he will make changes to the KML. If you have updated information, simply post it in this thread with an updated placemark.

Wow! That must have taken you a while. Very interesting to see all the refineries in Louisiana & Texas that we've been hearing about on the news lately.

Yes, it was frustrating getting info about certain countries. I'm hoping people in those locations will help out.

The locations for the Valero and Marathon refineries should be swapped in Texas City.

Regarding brazilian refineries, Ipiranga refinery is not located in Pelotas, but in Rio Grande. Manguinhos refinery is not located near Arraial do Cabo, but in Rio de Janeiro. REMAN refinery in Manaus is located on the wrong side of the river. If you have difficulties, let me know. Regards, RT

That is not an oil refinery, but rather, the ConocoPhillips complex that includes the Kuparuk Operations Center (KOC), Central Production Facility One (CPF-1), Kuparuk Construction Camp (KCC), and the Kuparuk Airport (NSK). Major features include the Kuparuk Spill Response Center, The Kuparuk AB and CD warehouses, the Kuparuk Topping Plant, The Kuparuk Communications Center, and the Kuparuk water and wastewater treatment plant.
This comment was typed from a room in KOC.

great effort!!! - I was planning on doing the same thing but you beat me to it and far exceeded my efforts!
A couple of corrections:
The Sunoco Marcus Hook PA refinery and the ConocoPhillips Trainer PA Refinery locations should be switched. Capacities are okay just switch the locations.
The ConocoPhillips Belle Chasse LA Refinery is incorrectly located. The correct refinery location is downstream on the Mississippi (south) and is in the lower resolution section shown on GE. Located at Alliance Revetment.
Hess Port Reading FCC complex is in NJ just south of the ConocoPhillips Linden NJ refinery.
