Hi all,

Thanks to Google every one can access Digital Globe High Resolution Satellite Imagery. But due to agreements and business concerns Google holds back the client code and restricts access to Google servers from other 3D Client Applications.

NASA World Wind is one of the best such clients and the focus is on extensibility and Scientific Ananlyis, so the code is more important to us than data and it is Open Source. Having data is nice but someone has to pay for it. There has just been a new release - 1.4 with lots of visual enhancements and some limited KML support.

Please try it out and let us know which KML features you would like to see improved most. Download the source and send us KML support patches and sample KML's you would like supported.

More NEWS about this release can be found here:

Hey what_nick. Congratulations on this milestone release! It's very exciting, and I know that my feelings are shared by my colleagues on the Google Earth team. We're big fans of both your vision and your efforts to pursue it.

I heartily encourage anyone who doesn't already read what_nick's blog to do so as often as possible. Here is the most recent post:

Very enlightening, as always. It's great to show people the similarities and differences in both our products and philosophies.

(Supporting the universe of <NetworkLink> files should be a priority for you guys, IMO.)

Thanks your comments are appreciated. We will continue developing the KML support. Network links already work. Maybe not nested links. We would also add multiple KML's and KML saving on exit.
