I think its cool, never been to Turkey but since Google doesn't have this info for this part of the world I definitely think it would be useful. The only suggestion would be some more brief info or hyper links on the theatres, submarines etc.

I had that originally, then cleaned it up.

The way GE currently displays previews of the "balloons" in left pane, and overally how balloon tooltips are handled is, in my oppinion unsatisfactory - so I decided to keep it brief and looking clean.

Bumping up due to massive update. I have lost count of the amount of placemarks.

Hope the custom icons will work.

Hi, q3c!

I am planning a trip to Istanbul next year so your post is being very useful for me!

One question about hotels: you are only showing hotels in the Beyoglu area... Why not in Seraglio Point or Sultanahmet? Wouldnt you recommend hotels in that area?

Thanks,

nicoATscl

I checked it for a few minutes only. And I found already lots of errors. The place marked "Numune Hospital" is actually "GATA Military Hospital". Numune Hospital is also in this neighborhood. And there are Siyami Ersek Hospital and Marmara University - Faculty of Medicine. Those are notable places too.
And the building marked "Istanbul University: Library" by two persons is also my own school "Istanbul University: Faculty of Arts", the faculty where you take generally literature lessons. The smaller building with green roof near it is "Istanbul University: Library" indeed.
"Atlas Cinema" is also wrong, this is historical "Emek Theatre" (movies).
Marked two "Hilton Hotel", the one is right, the other is wrong.
"Besiktas Port" is "Barbaros Hayrettin Pasa Dock".

You are right. I wish he had localized his work like me ( click here ). And I also keep the info as strict as possible because the one who will explain something is its owner; therefore, I am looking for web sites for each placemark. And, also, some live cams... And, again also, I ask people living there if I do not know something exactly (but it still contains errors and deficiencies)... When you get your range so wide, insanlar homurdanmaya baslarlar. Niye otel konmamis, niye o yok, niye bu yok....?

But keep corrections with him. I hope he will agree. This can be a good job.

Thank you very much for the corrections.

As I noted earlier, some of the placemarks were collected from other users, and I assumed they would be correct. I tried correcting (if impossible - removing) the faulty ones.

I guess from now on I will relay on my own information

Please let me know if you spot more!
