I tend to prepare my bicycle rides (mountain bikes) though google earth. I've noticed there is huge amount of sites added by a user called Thameen_Darby. This user claims that on each of those sites there was a vileage populated by people of his political group about 60 years ago. I'm reaching many of those places during my gps-guided bicycle rides, and see no evidence for vilages from 60 years ago. Many of those places are just empty hills, with no ruins, roads, or signs for previous agricalture activity - just pure nature that havn't been touched for hundredes of years. In some other places that this user added as vilages there is only one building that seems to be old, but is too small to hold more than one family, and definately could not be called "village".

My conclusion is that this user is adding massive amount of fake sites to support his political agenda, while assuming that no one will have the time and resources to check them all.

My question is: Is there a way to delete all of the sites that were added by this user, or is the only way to erase those fake sites is to make a seperate discussion on each one of them (we are talking about at least handreds of sites) ?

Hello bluesky2, if you follow the link in the placemarks it will take you to this thread. Have a read of it, then if you have comments about the sites, please contact Thameen_Darby either by PM (private message) or via the hotmail address he gives in the post.

To not visualise the placemarks in Google Earth you will need to turn off the relevant layers in the layers panel on the left:
- Geographic web - Best of the GEC
- Gallery - GE Community History

From the user guide: Using layers

Thank you Noisette. The problem is that the user that put those place marks knows that most of them are fake, and is doing that on purposes. Asking him to fix errors will not help (and I've seen many people already tryed to do that is the thread that your post links to). It is also impossible to follow every fake site that he puts in because there are hundreds of them.

Is there a way not see only this users sites ? I would not like to remove the Google Earth community placemarks, because many of them are very useful. It's only that user that ruins it all and fills all of the map in my region with disturbing fake sites (really - there are hundreds of them. In a matter of fact, most of the placemarks in my region are made by this user and are fake).

I think that users like that are damaging the purpose of Google community contribution. Just imagin what would happen if such a user could become an open source programmer and put bugs on purpose in the code. If that was possible, then open source projects could not last . So I'm quite surprised that there is no mechanism in Google Community to disable users that are entering false data on purpose.
