Rather amazing - it was June 3, 2006 that we reached 500,000.

Hi syzygy

Thats strange. I tried to find the 1000000th member, no chance. When I make a Google Search with "Member #, 36498" the first entry is my profile. The same thing with "Member #, 1000000" brings no user profile.

Hope a mod or admin can help you. I'm curious too.

Best Regards Felippo

Hi syzygy and Felippo,

I think the discrepancy in the numbers is that some people don't reply to the confirmation e-mail, and never actually take up the membership.

As regards finding number 1 000 000, look at your profile syzygy, you have member number 216939, and this is your profile:
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showprofile.php?Cat=0&User=216939
So logically
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showprofile.php?Cat=0&User=1000000
should give you the profile for member 1 000 000, however, he or she looks to be one of these phantom members. You could settle for 999999 or 1000001

Back in late 2006, the difference between the two numbers was just shy of 200,000 so the gap is consistent with an ongoing effect such as the folks who never complete the registration.

There also is no member #1!
