Santiago Espeche, an argentine artist, is exposing at the Argentine Consulate, New York, between 6-26 March 2008

He worked in Argentina for the CONAE (Argentine National Space Agency), where he learned to interpret satellites images.

In this art exhibition hes showing paper printed satellites images captured by the also argentinian satellite SAC-C over the Antartic Continent.

He named the exhibition "Tears from the Thaw", as he want to drive the public attention to the global warming issue:

Quote:

For this visual narration, I used images of the Antarctic obtained by the Argentine Earth Observation Satellite SAC-C. Thus, diving from the sky into the uttermost frozen ice, I saw through meditation, the tears from the thaw. In this dreaming swim I meet death, phobia and life again, all cause and effect of the thaws. A part of me has died. The other has come back to tell.

In a web article, he points out that Google Earth will bring "thousands of satellite artists" and he recommended to use GE as a tool for that.

His web site.

Also see the placemark to get the Argentine Consulate adress.

Thanks Gerardo!
I guess I forgot to mention the most obvious question to ask in my first post: do you know anyone with the same idea? Your reply filled it in form me.

As I wrote: there's bound to be more people who've "invented"Google Earth Art more or less simultaniously. And it would be a great idea to get them together in a forum. And who knows: an overview exposition in New York some time at the end of this year?
I'd love to go to this Santiago Espeche exposition. Unfortunately there's an ocean between here and New York which I don't cross very often.
Thanks again,
Evert.
