When I open the built in GE browser I get the fabulous IE dns error page for anything I type in.
Ie alone works fine, but the built in browser doesnt.
I also use mozzila on this machine and can hit all the DNS's above fine.

It seems that the GE program can't get the DNS lookup sorted... Even though it works fine on command line and with IE

Can anyone Help me? I have Spent/wasted almost as much time as I can bear on this one.

I don't know about that I think I'd set it to auto. It can change sometimes.

In Internet Options and on the connections tab Lan button make sure nothing is selected there.

In the browser in Google Earth you should be able to type in http://www.cnn.com and it should connect.

Are you using the HOSTS file? Load it into Notepad and check threw it for some listing that might be blocking Google or keyhole. Or just rename that file and try again.

What is your MTU set to?

Yeh I Know, but I wanted to be certain on the FIxed DNS

I have tried all the possibles with the Lan checkboxes, except setting up my own proxy

All location of host files have been removed (even the one in winnt help, that hardly anyone know about)

Anyhow if the DNS had been hyjacked then it would show when I treid to ping them

ping auth.keyhole.com

As you can see it all looks good from here,

But again the in-GE browser wont take anything : no URL's work at all they all give me the Same Standard IE dns error page :

Anyone Any Ideas?

oh and here's My Adapter dump... MTU cant be set in my router only in regedit

I've got the same problem, win2k too. I don't use a router.
I don't think it has anything to do with DNS, because if it was you should still be able to type in an IP address as the URL and have it come up. I'm able to use the built in browser like windows explorer by typing in a drive letter (C:\). Another thing, that the first site I try to bring up in the browser window after starting google earth gives me the "action canceled" error, but every other attempt gives the "page can not be displayed" error

Has anyone with the"c000000c" error tried hard-listing the google server numbers from this thread in the "hosts" file? I dont really see how this could help, but my understanding of this stuff is pretty shallow, and it is an easy thing to try.

By the way, my system is showing:
Name: auth.keyhole.com Address: 65.87.18.134

Name: kh.l.google.com Addresses: 64.233.179.91, 64.233.179.93
Aliases: kh.google.com

Dear Steven; I hope your dreaded error msg. has been resolved by now.
I had problems like this with an old router it was really a blitz too.
It worked fine until I kept having to go on line and reset it all the time.
Storms can wreak havoc on a router. There like cordless phones.
I don't know if you have dial up or what. Call your internet service provider and get them to help you reset it on their end. Sounds like your configurations are off; or call the router service provider... . I had to do both until I could do it in my sleep. Then I bought a new router.

if you can go to start>run>type in>dns#>ok
you should have the same dns for your router and your modem.
You will get page fault messages. Its the router that has to be reset.
If you plug in your modem and can get on line then its your router.
I use to get my configurations messed up all the time due to my router.
You will have to call your internet service provider to help you reset your dns inside your computer. It is easy and they will guide you through it.
It isn't hard at all..just do a flow chart as you go along. This will help you the next time.
