This new translate posts feature is extremely useful. To be able to change the language immediately rather than paste it into a translator is great! ocool

There's even a Maltese translation! Well I never... laugh

You will also notice that the translation is done 'on page', it doesn't take you to a new page.
So by just hitting the back button takes you straight to the last viewed page, unlike using the Google translate buttons I have in my toolbar laugh

work great smile

well done tech heads

The only little thing is the translator looks if only picks up the posters URL code and if they are posting from elsewhere out side of the native country. hence if you are in Denmark posting in Vietnamise it translates Danish. cry

It's all done courtesy of the awesome Google AJAX Language API.

There are some limitations, so not everything will work. Language detection requires a minimum amount of text. But since everything is url-encoded posts longer than around 5000 characters will fail translation. And the matrix of from/to languages is always in development.

I've added a link to this post beside the widget.

I would like to add Kudos to ink_polaroid for the nice job he did. laugh

Also to add that no animals were hurt in the testing of this tool... hence known as the 'Translation Wizard'.

Not sure what you are saying here...

But it isn't using the URL to translate the text. It looks at the text itself and tries to determine what the original language is. Thus the line "Da tim dc aj chua H" was too short for a true determination of the original language and therefor it mistakenly picked Danish.
