Hi, sorry for being quite inactive on the site - I work as seabird scientist in the cliffs to the west of the spot. The green area up from the whale is remnants of an settlement Keila, burnt down in the end of the 2.WW by the Germans. Our scientific station/cottage can be seen 150m up NW to the whale. You might also see the green grassy areas in the seabird cliffs (mainly in shadows), fertilized by breeding atlantic puffins.
The whale stranded, probably already dead in late winter/early spring. Local people warned us before we went out to the Station early May. The weather was cold in early may, preventing the whale from smelling to much. Even though the Coast Guard removed the whale, it still did smell at the spot this summer ..
