TWIN brothers have been arrested over a mugging after their victim spotted them on Google's Street View.
They were snapped by one of the internet site's roving camera cars in September - just moments before pulling the 14-year-old boy off his bike and robbing him.

Six months later the lad was checking out Street View pictures of his neighbourhood in Groningen, Holland, and saw the brothers following him.

He told police who asked Google for the original photo as software on their site automatically blurs faces.

A detective then recognised the twins, now accused of stealing £140 and the boy's mobile phone.

Last night a police spokesman said: "We have not used Street View images before. For us it is unique."

Neither the boy nor the twins has been named.

Street View was launched in 2007 and has expanded to more than 100 cities worldwide - despite some privacy complaints.

Just as an afterthought, if anyone finds the image, please post it here, when I start Street View it sends my computer haywire.

There was much concern when the British cities appeared, claiming that people had lost some privacy when they appeared og Google.
Some were seen coming out of betting shops and generally caught where they should not have been, or did not want others to know where they had been.
They blotched out the faces of everyone to try and hide identities, so I am surprised that any face was identified, or you have been allowed to find the image.

Mark,

The faces are blurred after the fact when the photos come in, using software AFAIK. I assume that the victim or law enforcement went through the proper procedures to get an unedited version from Google.
