OK, now I'm too young to remember the Beatles. Nevertheless, I'm fully aware of the impact they've had on the world.

Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire is where John Lennon played the piano in his moving Imagine video in the white drawing room. In 1969 Lennon bought the house for just 145,000.

Lennon sold it to Ringo Starr in 1971 who then sold it to the current owners in 1988 for 5 million. It is set in 72 acres, and was also the setting for The Beatles' final photo session.

The house is now a private residence, owned by Zayed al-Nahyan and the property is work an estimated 30,000,000 ($55million)

Enjoy!
Cheers,
Phil, UK

Thanks Phil, I always thought the "Imagine" video was filmed in one of John & Yoko's US homes.

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan died in November 2004.. he was the first president of United Arab Emirates and remained in office until his death. He remains a great hero to the people of UAE, having brought the newly-combined emirates from a new and very poor desert country to the world financial center and prosperous jewel it is today, with the help of oil discoveries.

His son Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan was elected president the day after his death and remains in office now, continuing his father's work of developing the country into a world showpiece, as we have seen on these boards.

Depending on when your source info was dated and the similarity in the father's & son's names, I wonder if the father owned the house, or if the son does now.. of course, it's very likely both statements are true.

p.s. too bad you missed the Beatles.. ahh that was a time

Tittenhurst Park is owned by HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, wife of the late King. He bought the house for her and since his death HH visits the house a couple of times a year. She is well known for her campaigning work for women's rights and has won many awards. The King was responsible for reclamation work in Abu Dhabi. Much of their wealth is attributed to Oil, but there is also a thriving opal industry there.

Imagine was recorded at Tittenhurst Park and although extensive work has been carried out over the years, you can still see the windows of the room where it was filmed. Looking at the front of the house, from the gardens, you can see two bay windows and the right hand window is where the piano was positioned. The room looks very large in the film, but in fact is not that big. Being all white at the time helped create the illusion. Now it looks much smaller, being decorated in a completely different fashion.

Hi, I heard that Yoko Ono is trying to prevent the release of a piece of that art. The 75-year-old artist and widow of Lennon is suing a Massachusetts company that wants to release a film culled from footage shot at Lennon's estate in 1970 that has never been seen by the public. I found an excellent Blog in respect to Tittenhurst Park.
