Hi all,

Check these 6 Animated Models through GE Flight Simulator. This post Contains 5 Airplanes and 1 Helicopter model.

Unzip the file attached and follow the instructions.

Instructions:

For Planes:

1. Open the desired model folder
2. There are 2 KMZ files (Big & Small), double click on any of them you want
3. The picture of the Plane will appear in the middle of the screen plus the "Date and Time Options Time line"
4. Go to Date and Time Options and set the Animation Speed slower or faster as preferred (Regarding to the Propeller/Engine Smoke/Lights speed); Check the "Loop Animation" selection and finally play the animation to see if it's ok.
5. Let it play and press Ctrl+Alt+A, select your aircraft and press Start Flight
6. Press "Space" button and press "H" to deselect the Hud Screen; Pressing "Space" again will resume the flight (You can do it at any time during your Flight).

Now you are in your Flight, Enjoy It...

For Helicopter:

Repeat the 6 above mentioned instructions but in the last step before you press the Space button to to resume the Flight, just press (Ctrl+Down Arrow Key) for 6 times to make the proper Helicopter Top View and finally press Space to flight (Choose SR22 and don't play too much with it cuz it's a bit difficult to control it on air!).

==> For better visual landscapes and more fun don't forget to check the Terrain and 3D Buildings features on and also you might have a fast computer with good graphic card.

I download the 2.5 MB GEFS miragetown.com.zip file. It is getting saved as "GEFS miragetown.com.kmz" and opening directly in Google Earth, where I get a big Red X. Here is the screen shot;

Am I missing something? oconfused

No, but to see them in action..

You first need to rename the file so that the extension is ZIP. (GEFS miragetown.com.zip.kmz -> GEFS miragetown.com.zip) Then extract the zip file and dubble click on any KML in the folders. Actually, this very clever! Five stars awarded, Amir! ocool

You need to unzip to a folder on your hard drive and then load KMZ found within that folder into GE.

( Post edit - Kite's way works also)

This is cool works well, cannot seem to get a handle on helicopter tho'.

Cheers
Jeff

Tried my hand at flight simulation and crashed every time. It seems I am too old to play games - except of course Fun & Games. grin

Don't select the jet, but the slow airplane (SR22) when entering the GEFS! Then, when in flight, left-click and hold the mouse button while moving your mouse. Now it's easier to handle the plane. Thanks for bringing this post back up, CJ! I hope Amir don't mind changing one of his files to make a tour that includes sound with it. If you download the attachment below and click on the tour, it now incorporates sound. (I know, bad landing and timing.. grin )

I recently witnessed a similar landing at a local airfield. The Cessna was a write off but the quote of the day came from the student pilot who said "yeah, it was only after the third or fourth bounce that the nose dug in the ground." eek

Why not just save each plane as a KMZ file?

Attached is the BF 109 in one easy click:

Thank you all for your great replies and following.

I saw Kite's nice tour and I hope the passengers are still alive grin . as you said I'm working on other examples and the ability to add some other features; especially to add sound and various plane views "if possible", but I really need your suggestions and comments to make this happen.

It's amazing that Frank has noticed and put this post on his great blog:

Frank's demonstration of this project video on YouTube:

YouTube - Add Planes to Google Earth Flight Simulator

I'll try to come with new features next time, please share your thoughts with me...

Peace
Amir Badamchi
