Island Aid is a US based 501(c)(3) non-profit, 100% volunteer driven organization founded aboard an 800 ton ex Hong Kong ferry that we chartered to reach tsunami survivors on the remote central west coast of Aceh.

We were the first NGO to reach southern Aceh and one of the first to reach Nias in March 2005. See Island Aid www.island-aid.org

Jane & I experienced first hand the earthquakes on September 30th and October 1st here in Padang.

We are a small organization but we live here and we can act quickly. Island Aid makes use of facilities that are supported by our marine tourism & design/artisan production activities here in West Sumatra. We are supported by public donations, friends and family.
