Here is the placemark for:

2. Parkland Industries Limited - Bowden Refinery
This small refinery was closed in September 2001 and had a capacity of 4,800 bpd when it operated. It is just south of Red Deer on highway 2. I've added a placemarker for it too, though I'm not sure how to add two markers to one message, so I will send a separate reply for this one. Here are a couple of articles about it:

Hi Roadrunner,

first of all nice work.
The location of TUPRAS oil refinery located in Aliaga-Turkey is posted incorrectly. The coordinates should read lat 38.788408 N and lon 26.933522 E.

You forgot Syncrude, Suncor, Albian, Aurora, CNRL, and Firebag.
If you find Fort McMurray they are just north you can see them from upto 2000 miles into space.

Coordinates
PE =Planned expansion.

SITE: LAT: LONG: BPD-PE

Suncor 57 00'20.60" 111 28'40.76" 270,000-550,000 by 2010
Syncrude 57 02'31.85" 111 36'43.59" 247,000-350,000 by 2006
Albian 57 18'06.23" 111 30'17.49" 154,000- 500,000
CNRL 57 28'20.47" 111 49'16.94" 110,000 by 2008, 300,000 by 2010

Not sure where firebag but is just south of Aurora
Firebag = Suncor
Aurora = Syncrude

There are more smaller ones that produce like 70,00 but not that many that big

Rumour has it that CNRL is supposed to procude 6 times more oil than Syncrude.

http://www.cnrl.com/horizon/
http://www.oilsandsdiscovery.com/oil_sands_story/pdfs/projects.pdf

I work at Suncor and my brother works at Syncrude, and My girlfriends mom works at Albian. These sites are absolutely HUGE you probably seen them on discovery channel or something. average wage is around $30 an hour, ranging from $17 to over $100 and when making overtime people can make thousands of dollars a day.

Thanks for all the replies. I haven't visted the forum in a while but I just made the corrections that I could find and uploaded a new placemark.

In Toledo Ohio, the Sunoco and BP facilities are reversed. BP is up north on Cedar Point Rd and Sunoco is the southern facility off of State Route 2.

I noticed that one of your place names is incorrect. It is in regards to the Imperial Oil Strathcona Refinery. The location you have named that is actually a DOW Chemical plant. Don't know the capacity or all the stuff they do there but that's what it is.

Thanks

I have also noticed that the Shell Scotford Refinery is mislabelled. The refinery you can't actually see on the map. What you can see is the Chemical or Styrene plant with the Meg plant and also an Aire Liquide plant to the south. The Refinery isn't visible to the south west but the parking lots are. This image was taken during the major Upgrader Construciton project that completed I believe in 2002. Im not sure on the year but it's around that time when it was completed. Additionally the Air LIquide plant is a cogeneration site where the power generated I believe is shared with the Meg and Styrene plants but I could be mistaken on that note. It could also just go into the grid as well.

I have a good knowledge of this area as I work in the Equipment Rental industry and all of the major plant sites in the Edmonton, Ft. Saskatchewan area are customers of mine. If you have any questions as to locations of other major landmarks please feel free to ask.

Hi,

the placemark for "Hellenic OKTA Skopje Refinery" is wrong, that's steel plant. The correct location is 42/00'00N and 21/39'18E.

Here are placemarks for most of the world's crude oil refineries and their capacities. There is no way I got them all, and some are probably not in the exact location. Those include refineries that are grouped together, and in very low resolution areas.

Please point out any incorrect locations and refineries not listed (with their capacities) because help is needed especially in these areas:

Germany: Maybe a few here too.

I updated most of the wikipedia list to reflect my placemarks.

Here is my kmz-file with all german refineries

send me an email if your german is not so good, so I will translate it into english (my english is not so good )
