I know, Volcano World now has their own placemark links on their site (see their site ) , but I wanted to see all current eruptions simultaneously.

I also know, that there's another post here, that has exactly the same data, but it was last updated with data from February 2005.

So I thought I'll post an updated version.

The network links are now available!

The attached KML file has exactly the same functionality as the placemarks in the fisrt post, except that it gets it's data dynamically from a local copy of Volcano World's lists. This local copy is automatically updated once a day, though it seems that the Volcano World lists are only updated weekly .

This is experimental code: If Volcano World changes their layout or I'll mess up something in the scripts, the network links are most likely to stop working! So please bear with me.

There are four versions of the network links available:

• Current eruptions: This is the same as the attached file.
  
• Historic eruptions
  
• Global Volcanism Program's Weekly report. By the Smithsonian Institute and USGS.
  
• All of the above, with only the current eruptions checked.
  
• A 'meta' network link containing network links to the three reports.
  

Again, this is still under development. So sometimes the links may not work. I'm trying my best to keep downtimes short .

The network links are generously hosted by Sourceforge.

Edit: My serious apologies: I posted the wrong links to a server that is quite limited! So I had to change them. All of you who bookmarked those links above, will have to re-download them. Again, I'm very sorry!

P.S.: I'm still looking for a decent, Python-enabled, web-hoster.

I added Google- and Wikipedia-Search links to the information balloons. This feature probably only works with latest version of GE. On other versions, those links are probably just invisble?

I also updated again to the latest VoW data. But it seems, there haven't been a lot of changes ;-). Probably they're only updating once a week?

P.S: Before you ask: Some coordinates from VoW are straight-out wrong! I guess they will be corrected sooner or later . But you may always compare them to the Wikipedia data.

Volcano world just added 'live view' webcam links to some current volcanoes, so I integrated these links into the placemarks.

Then, the network links are now online! Please see the second post in this thread, to download the network link of your choice.

There's also new data available from VoW so please re-download, or better yet, get the network link, and you should never have to download again

But I thought I'll add a new source for volcanologic information : Data from the Smithsonian Institute's and USGS's Global Volcanism Program is now available from the network link post above.

If you downloaded the 'meta' network link before, you should have the data already, otherwise get it from the network link post above.
