Ahem... Knock down a 100+ posts for that google stock! Just kidding!

To be honest, I have paid way too much money before for software that that has no where near the entertainment or educational value found in the Keyhole product.

My nieces come over now, and don't care about playing games, but want to zoom around the world looking up their pen-pals, friends and such... What a great learning tool for them!

Kudos to the Keyhole staff! Hope you all do great, and as a not too early user, I feel extremely happy to be a part of this transition, as I think is echoed by everone here.

Best to all,

Phred

The placemark has been updated so that there should be no problem with older versions of the software.

Thank you for the photo compliments. By the way, I answered your camera question the other day.

Keyhole's "Gee Whiz Factor" highlighted in todays New York Times article (Registration may be required for viewing). However mucho kudos given to Google for the move. Today's Chicago Tribune (Again, registration may be necessary), seems to have thrilled at this new Keyhole thing.

Amusing indeed. Much like the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, the date you mention is the minute before a great Epoch. In this case the next moment -- 00:00:00 GMT, January 1, 1970 -- is the instant from which all times in UNIX-based operating systems are measured.

No doubt this is the BBS software's way of making sure that posts designated as 'sticky' stay at the top of any sorting of the list.

P.S. When was the UNIX billennium?

The original post has since been 'unstuck', so its date is no longer special. Nobody knew when the billenium was.

Yes indeed. We have a winner. Good job Ink.

My good friend Steve Baker (one of the smartest people in existence) even chronicled the epochal event!

P.S. No, even though Steve is very Penguin-oriented, he is not PenguinOpus.

The Google Earth team does not occupy the entire campus.
