Here is a version that shows flight data, not just dots. I picked up the URL for the larger format page. However, the image for each airport has to be individually fit to GE. How did you get the small pics to locate themselves properly? The aircraft positions do update automatically once every few minutes. It would be nice to just type in an airport code and have the image show up correctly sized and oriented over the airport.
EDIT
I now have two airports positioned, LAX and BTV, my home base. It would be quite a project to place every US airport but if everyone did his or her home port we could have nice view of the entire Air Traffic Control system of the US.
EDIT #2
The folder now has BTV, BOS, JFK, DCA, LAX, and SFO. The easiest way to set up a new airport is to copy and paste a duplicate of a nearby airport, then Edit the copy to give it the new name and enter the airport code into the URL (the web site as a code finder), then drag the image approximately over the new city/airport. The alignment is easier to do with boundaries on because some boundaries are in the image also. Align the image to coasts or state boundaries.
EDIT #3
Cleaned up some of the text and added the link for each airport that decodes the flight data. If you click on the link, the arrival and departure table opens in your browser. You can then look up the flight numbers. These are still just updating images rather than data streams being plotted in GE. Maybe some day we can get access to the data stream and plot flights directly in GE.
EDIT #4
LGA and PVD added to file, Thanks for the additions. Also fixed the errant periods in some links. I also added the "Live ATC" kmz file first posted by "uaevette" as a folder.
EDIT #5
Added more major airports, SEA, PHX, DFW, ORD. Cleaned up text. Added Live radio links directly into radar placemarks where available.
Recently heard conversion on BOS approach control link;
"Providence Control - this is United XXXXX ....."
"United XXXXX, this is Boston Approach... are you calling Providence or Boston Approach"
"Oh, I meant Boston approach.."
"OK, I just wanted to be sure we know where your going...."
Remember this the next time you get on a plane. Pilots are people too.
