I often tell my friends that Washington, D.C. has as much to offer as any other city in the world. Here is a far from comprehsive set of placemarks of important landmarks for the city.

I've got about 75 sites posted on here so far. If anybody can identify Frederick Douglas' house, that would be a great addition.

Trivia: Name the two major universities NOT posted here. Feel free to add these schools and any other landmarks you wish!

If you want to add new placemarks, save them to the appropriate folder, then save the entire Washington folder as a kml file and repost to the forum (this way we keep all the placemarks in the same file for everybody)..

(I posted an updated list on this date below)

Nice list there spicy_gringo
If you want some more embassies, just do a search as I've posted many...
My Japan Embassy site differs from yours though, so not sure who's right....Not sure if they've moved or something
Cheers,

You're right. I checked the Web site. The building I marked as the embassy of Japan is actually the ambassador's house...

I've spent another hour or two on the list and made it far more complete, thanks in part to the many postings of DC you've made (I included your top 10 tallest buildings list as a folder within this file too)...

I think your posting of Donald Rumsfeld's house marked the wrong house. Don't know for sure but I've always thought it was the house I marked...either way he lives across the street from the French ambassador which I find quite humorous.

French guy: "Please, my wife and I would love for you to come over to share in some french wine and cheese and discuss our countries relations"

Rummy: "Not until you can keep your damn dog off my yard Frenchie"

Great post on Washington, D.C., s. g. If we link Scanware's "Momunental City" thread to yours and phil's, it should really consolidate our D.C. knowledge. "Monumental City"

I wonder if Rummy tried to use GE to find weapons of mass destruction?

I have a feeling that a wrong building has been marked as the Embassy of India. I am not sure about the other embassies.
I think the correct one is the one that is to the left of Japanese embassy. The Indian embassy is at two locations: 2107 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20008 which is a chancery office and another at 2536 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20008 which is the consular wing to handle the visas & passports. You can look it up at http://www.indianembassy.org/embassy/contact.htm.
The marking does not match to either of them.

Chidu

The name of this statue is "The Awakening" by J. Seward Johnson Jr. It is actually a multipart statue of a man appearing to climb out of the ground. My Grandmother used to take me there whenever we were in the area. People love to climb on the toes and in the figures mouth. Great pictures at http://www.pbase.com/april_sims/the_awakening

Hi,

For Rumsfeld's home at DC, take a look of this message:
