This has got to be one of the best finds on GE ever! Excellent find, you can't get better than this, I think there is only one other airworthy Lancaster in the world and that lives in Canada, so lets start searching!! People have hunted high and low for planes in flight and missed this one, so for your 4th post it is fantastic, well done. It also shows that the camouflage works, because it blends in very well, maybe that's why it has been missed.

Incredible find Jules !

Full five stars ! I didn't believe it's possible to find the only flying Lancaster in Europe really flying ! Congratulations ! And sorry too, you hardly can do it better than this. But it's always worth trying ! Good hunting !

The Canadian Lancaster is at Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Hamilton International Airport, Mount Hope. It's a lo-res area!
But here's the Lanc;

And they have a nice website Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum

Here's
a Canadian Lanc in high(ish)-res at Calgary.

This 2002 photo shows her in pretty bad shape. Anyone know if she's had any recent restoration?

It's a Mk10 - note the different shape of the wing trailing edges compared to Jules' B1.

Cheers

Frank,

I remember seeing a program "Bomber crew" last year. It involved getting relatives of bomber crews to learn how to operate and fly a Lancaster. I am sure they flew in the Canadian Lancaster, which means it must have been restored since your photo. Links to the programs below:

The Calgary Lanc has been repainted,or so it seems in this article.
Lancaster in Calgary
But that one is not "safe"! I have my ex-neighbour "on ground" in Calgary. He's at the University of Calgary, and possible to get out and take a photo of the Lanc.

Hi, Andy,

I remember the programme well. However, I don't think it was this particular Lanc they were flying in. I suspect it was the one Desmo mentioned in his earlier post.

Cheers

It was also seen in the "Dambusters Raid"-re-enactment on Discovery Channel. The mini-series where modern-day RAF aircrew flew the raid in a simulator. But the pilots got a hands-on experience flying the CWH Lanc just to try "the real McCoy".
