Could someone please tell me how to delete/edit Path segments in the
middle of a Path? The only way I know of is to start at one end and
delete segments until I get to the part I want to change then I have to redraw
everything from the end.

Oh no, there is a much more efficient way. Here's how:

Right-click on the line in your "My Places" and click "Edit." Go to an already existant point on your line and click it (it should change from originally red; as you cursor is over it, green; and then blue after you clicked it). See image below if I lost you!

You can then click on the line (from where the blue point is to the next point on the path) and drag it to where you want it to go. (Again, check out the image below if you're lost.)

It's hard to perfect this tool your first time using it. My best recommendation is to simply "play" with the Path tool.

Hello,

This is just the difference between the version 3 and Beta 4 clients.

  • In v3, right-click > Edit (actually a drop-down menu selection and not a button)
  • In Beta 4, right click > Properties

Once Properties is open in Beta 4, the intermediate points become red (and blue) for editing, as described before by Kempster.

    Simon.

Oke, that I already have found. But I want to extend the path. And when I place the pointer at any point after the last selected point it draws a straight line to the beginning of my already made path. And that's not what I want. I want to go one extending it. Any suggestion?

    Hello,

Are you at the beginning or end of you path (by beginning, I mean where you started off the original one).

When you select an existing point, the next one you add will always be ordered after that original one so, if for example you have 10 existing points and you select point number 5 and add a new point, the new point will become number 6 in line.

This creates a problem if you want to create a new point at the very beginning.

However, you can get round this in three ways:
  • If you're not to worried about having to redraw point number 1, you can move point 1 to where you want the changed path to start from and then fill in the points between that and where original point number 2 was
  • If you want to keep the original path exactly as it was, you can create a new path in front of the orginal path, save them both as KML (not KMZ) files and use a text editor to copy the new points to the beginning of the second lot
  • A mixture of the 2 previous ones, you can look at the exact co-ordinates of the first point with text editor, add the new points (as described in the first example) then open with a text editor again and correct the change to the original first point (now part way through)

I hope this makes sense - not so easy to explain!

    Cheers,

    Simon.
