HI, Amol, welcome to GE.

It's quite easy to add placemarks. LRae's lessons will help you, I'm sure.

Here you go!

Cheers

Frank

Here's a new user question I had, after reading through the various FAQ's and placemark postings/tutorials: under what circumstances would a placemark posted on the forums not show up in the BBS layer?

To unpack a bit: I was interested in posting a placemark for Gunkanjima, since I checked the three GE Community layers for placemarks and did not spot any. I then followed the posting suggestions and did a search for the placemark, and found two forum posts for Gunkanjima/Battleship Island: here and here. Both were from July 2005. All of the information I could find on posting delays referred to either 'a few weeks' delay' or 'monthly updates' before a posting would show up in the GE Community layers; that deadline should be long past for either one of these posts, yet neither one is showing up in any one of the GE Community layers.

So I guess my question is, how much time should one give a placemark posted in the forums to show up in the Community layers? Are there reasons for it not showing up besides 'they haven't gotten to it yet' that would merit either re-posting or leaving it be?

Thanks!

Both of those Placemarks show up on the BBS Layers They both show under the 'Google Earth Community' layer

Zoom in a little closer you will see a small ! on each one.

That's interesting; I have all three GE Community layers turned on (Google Earth Community, Community Showcase, and Google Earth Community (Unranked) ), and I do not see either placemark. See the screenshot here. Other placemarks on the BBS layer appear to show up fine. Could this be something related to the Mac release of GE? Any other ideas what's going wrong?

I don't know why you see a different image.. I was just answering your original message from the Info I have from my screen where they both clearly show.. My image is from about the same height as yours but they both show from higher up to right down at nearly ground level ..

You've found a bug in the new Mac version. I just confirmed it. I'll file it and figure out the extent of the differences. Thanks.
