Oh no, there is a much more efficient way. Here's how:
Right-click on the line in your "My Places" and click "Edit." Go to an already existant point on your line and click it (it should change from originally red; as you cursor is over it, green; and then blue after you clicked it). See image below if I lost you!
You can then click on the line (from where the blue point is to the next point on the path) and drag it to where you want it to go. (Again, check out the image below if you're lost.)
It's hard to perfect this tool your first time using it. My best recommendation is to simply "play" with the Path tool.
