Mrs. Seer and I took a relaxing weekend drive over to the coast in response to Lrae's post about the Watsonville Air Show. He had mentioned that he would "be there to give out autographs and talk about flying and EV" so this was an offer too special to be missed!

He was indeed there as foretold. We met just outside the school where he teaches, Acme Aviation, and had a quick tour of the place. We saw the instrument-flying simulator and several interesting items in the office. Then it was out to the ramp to look at planes on the ground, taking off, landing, and flying overhead. Here are a few memories from yesterday.

Lrae let us in on one of the secrets of the advertising industry.

...and why the steep altitude gain... (Seer photograph, Copyright(C)2005)

Aha! To "peel" the flying sign from the ground! (Seer photograph, Copyright(C)2005)

The final plane we saw was an aging veteran till spry at a golden age.

What about the autograph? True to his word Lrae got out his pen and met all expectations. Thanks, Lrae!

P.S. Want to see the delight he shows when talking about his wife, flying, or Google Earth?

Great photos by Seer of this nationally reknowned air show! Most impressive, however, are the first photos in Keyhole/GoogleEarth bbs history of an Lrae looking natural and approachable. Kudos to Seer and The Great One (For allowing such revealing pics!)

Yeah, great pics there seer Looks like a fun day you had - and gorgeous weather (i'm not bitter....though it is raining right now!)

I'm just sorry I wasn't able to get an autograph....or should that be 'signature' I could use to make fraudulant transactions in his name

Nice one

Phil

Great Pics Seer!

Have had the chance to be there before.
Was the B-29 there, it had been buzzing the SF peninsula all week prior?

Question for L, What flavor are those Hula Girls?

Haha, I was there doing community service going up to the planes that had just flown in and parked and collecting admission money from them. I didn't know it was that famous! I could've even seen you there and not known it.

Thank you!
It was a B-17?

The one thing about this plane was it had the tri-tail.
The main tail and two (left and right) vertical fins!

You may have seen another great flying machine... A Lockheed Constellation or Super Constellation. Probably This One

One was President Eisenhower's Airforce One
