This is an airfield on the border between Bosnia and Croatia which was used by Muslim Air Forces during the 90's War. The aircraft were stored in hangers under the top of the mountain (SW of runway). It is now derelict. Beware of mines!!

Zeljava was destroyed by Yugoslav army in 1992 when they escaped the area and was not use by Bosnian (not Muslim) air force because at the time there was none. Here is a rough drawing of the base and some pictures.

It was the largest and most expensive underground millitary airport of the JNA,destroyed during the spring 1992 by the same army,while they where rethreating from tihs location.The capacity was cca 72. planes,mostly MIG-21.
I was in the command center of the base,during the war,I think it was in spring od '95,in place salled "The Star".We (Serbian army) where searching 4 some equipment,that remains after the devstation of the airport.
