I have enhanced placemarks created by Pert a couple of years ago for a project about California Missions. I must give that contributor credit for the initial placemarks and GE board info link.

I added an inquiry/constructivist lesson in the "California Missions" top-level link of the placemarks. I placed two types of web links, a picture and a link to a Quicktime panorama in the placemarks. A link to a lesson worksheet/guide I created is included. Students are guided through two tasks with a series of steps and questions.

I created the project so 4th grade California students and others can explore and discover the history of the missions, their purpose and how geography played an important role in the success or failure of the missions.

I have attached a KMZ file.

This is great! Thanks for all of your effort. My daughter is in 4th grade and we just did a project like this. She did the work and it's much less in depth but she worked really hard on it. She also wrote and starred in her own video on her mission. Search video.google.com for Mission Santa Cruz and you'll see it if you're interested.
