With two Google Earth Pro licenses on two separate PC machines, one connected to the internet and one isolated, can the folder that holds the dbCache.dat file be transferred between the machines? Are there files that we can transfer instead of the entire folder? We�re trying to build a standalone Google Earth Pro PC that we can load the Disk Cache from another. Is this even possible?

If you mean the imagery cache, the files are 'dbCache.dat.index' and 'dbCache.dat'. They are located in the 'c:\document and settings\YOURNAME\...' folder. You can copy them to each machine's relevant folder to enjoy similar GE-imagery cache.

If you mean your 'My Places' folder, just right-click it anr 'Save as'. You will have a kmz or kml file that can be copied to another machine where you can 'Open' it there.

Just a quick question, Is your planed stand alone machine going to be connected to the internet? Because if I'm correct it will need to be to update the ongoing imagery updates.

You can copy the imagery that is streamed by GE in one machine to another non-internet (or also internet) machine with copying the cache files.

But that would have to be an on going exercise, would it not?

Try it on your own. I know some members (or just users) are doing this. They are flying at their offices where there is internet available and go on working at their home where there is internet unavailable.

And I suspect that they are students or professors at school.

Yes the imagery cache is what we're interested in.

Google Earth is usable without the internet once the desired display is totally recorded in cache on the hard drive. This is a research project. We have a requirement for an "air gap" between the internet and the machine we use to display Google Earth Pro -- thus the reason for moving the recorded cache between machines.

You're welcome...
Know that it has a file size limit. If it goes not showing hi-res as before it did (or if it starts anomalities), you will need to delete the cache from the Options panel.
