In addition to the main Transib. line, there are other branches that reach into other parts of the vast Siberian east. One moderate-sized branch is the Taiga Branch which extends from Taiga, through Tomsk, to Asino. The attachment is for that branch; you can find references to those cities here near the bottom of the page.

Svirsk is situated on Irkutsk-Cehremkhovo plain, and the branch gets its name from there. This is a short (21 km) branch of the Transib. with Svirsk its only stop. See this page of The Trans-Siberian Handbook for more.

I have added the Taishet to Ust-Kut branch of the Transib. Click the above attachment to see the route. You will find it featured in the Handbook here,

Thanks for the great file(s) of the Trans-siberian. Has anyone tried to do the Mongolian - Beijing branch? This is a very popular route. I was hoping to find this on line...

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to do so this summer.
I leave by airplane on 30 juli 2006 to Moscow, there I go by train to Beijing (Peking) using the trans-mongolie express.
I will post my review as soon as possible after returning on August 15th.

Due to a recent imagery update, there are many places along the route of the Transib. that are now in higher resolution. City details, some showing snowy winter views, are improved. And in the higher resolution areas you can see trains on the tracks.
