Looks to be at least 5 fairly large sunken ships offshore from Peenemunde Airport in Germany, at the point where the water gets shallow. I wonder what the story is behind this? I tried looking it up but didnt have any luck.
Probably something to do with Peenemundes' history
Both the V1 (doodlebug) and V2 (first ballistic missile) were tested and lauched from Peenemunde. It was the equivalent of Los Almos to Germany during WW2.
Eager to not let the allies get their hands on V2 technology after war, the Red Army (who occupied it after the war) destroyed everything (although a sizable number of scientists that worked on the V2 had already made their way to the US).
The whole area would have been full of military activity and then was destroyed. Most of the large ships and equipment (that might have been there at the time 'scorched earth' was carried out) would prob still be there if they haven't been moved.
P.S Also the whole place came under massive bombardment by the british during 'operation hydra' (August 1943). The idea of this operation was to kill as many scientist (who lived in the village of Peenemunde) as possible.
a little thing to note............... Most of the people who actually built the V2's were POW's or from the Concentration Camps. More people died building the V2's than inflicted by the V2's.
