This is really annoying me because before I had to reformat my computer Google Earth worked just fine. Now every time I try to start it my computer just restarts all on it's own and then I get the "You computer has recovered from a serious error" box.

Any ideas why this might be happening? I thought maybe video drivers, but I have the newest ones out there.

Well, I can't tell you what exactly causes the reboot, but it seems that you get a blue screen and your windows is set up to reboot on bluescreen...
If you stop it from doing that under start->settings->control panel->system->Advances->Startup and Recovery->Settings->Automatically Restart
then you can a least see the source of the reboot... won't help much I guess but at least you'll be able to see if i's really the graphics driver

Hello Zachattack05

Have you resolved with the problem/s you faced?
Well, I have the same problem too and after checking everything as recommended, it persisted. Anyway, currently I'm using the trial (free) version and the followings is what was display before the reboot.

-------------------------------------------------------
A problem has been detected and Windows has been Shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've see this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these Steps:

- Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer fro driver updates. Try changing video adaptors.

- Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBFA14D0E, 0xF7F36aec, 0X00000000)

*** ati3d1ag.dll - address BFA14D0E base at BFA04000, DataStamp 3c23bf2d

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump completed.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

My hardware info:
Laptop, P4 1.60GHz, 512 MB RAM, Windows XP Pro,

Anyone got any idea on how should I proceed to make Google Earth works?
Appreciate your help.

Have a nice day.

One thing you might want to check is in your BIOS settings make sure Plug And Play operating system is enabled..

I just built me a brand new box and that was the problem. It was disabled by default.

Mighty, I guess this message can also be a SATA Harddisk driver problem.

I was getting that error from a EVGA 7900 GTX SLI setup. It was odd so I checked the bios and discovered plug and play operating system was disabled. Which is a good thing if you are using say Linux. Anyway I turned it on and that error vanished. This happened on two different mother boards that I picked at first before deciding on the Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe board. Windows just does not like that setting turned off. Must be a Linux thing. There is no good reason why windows cannot use the info supplied by the bios. Anyway that is off by default and if that weird error comes up in Windows that is probably the problem. It was not the SATA drives it was the GTX cards here ( well ultimately windows ) causing it for me.
