Boah, that was close to a disaster.

running on the right stage since 13:26. I hope you will not hang me for that!

Well you know, I always want to do it more complicate than necessary, that is why i have build in an automatic update to the next track after 19:00.
Well it seems I am always in advance of my time

Enjoy the race today.

Here is KMZ file for Stage 21 (Final Stage) Route Map with path/point/distance info.

Stage 21 - Sunday, July 24: Corbeil-Essonnes - Paris Champs-lyses, 144 km

REVISED - the route path for the final circuit in Champs-lyses was revised per this map from Paris Pref Police for TdF2004.

This is the final stage for Tour de France 2005, as well as the final run for Lance Armstrong. Some of superstars in professional sports does retire a couple of times in their career... so will this really be the final for him?

Anyhow, this is the last parade of this year anyway. Many of riders will rush for the final stage winner.

The route path is slightly modified around the circuit in Champs-lyses, refering lucifer666's path file (thanks!) and the map below from J SPORT:

Finish:

Also, placemarks to link geotagged flickr photos of famous landmarks in Paris are included to this route map.

SRM is supposedly streaming live data from four riders in each stage. Check it out here .Though I've downloaded the latest JRE, I'm still getting an error. Regardless, I'm imagining a world where each rider has a GPS transponder dishing out his location for us to follow along with on Google Earth (probably for a small subscription fee), and on top of that, we can incorporate some rider's SRM power data (watts, heart rate, km/hr, gradient) onto their location icons...

What a great time to be alive!

I may to remake Stage 1-4 in my format lator, as I know there are many fans (including me!) to review each stages on personally recorded video (I have all of them on my HDD recorder) or official DVD, so the complete set of route map would be good for future reference of TdF 2005.

Map making is a lot of fun, but I really hope letour.fr will deliver this kinda (100% accurate) maps for TdF next year, and GPS based realtime race tracking service as a Google Earth contents - if they need sponcer for doing this, they can ask franceguide.com and let them put sightseeing placemarks in the map file, or ask Crdit Lyonnais to put ATM or branch placemarks
All the technologies are available now, so its gonna be a matter of do or do not ...

(oops, who made Stage 21 circuit path was lucifer666 ... Sorry!)

lucifer666,

In this Route of Stage 21 curcuit in Champs-Elyses, I found your path does not go thru the tunnel in front of Musee du Louvre... Usually, it goes thru it every year..(See attached path file - revised route). Are you sure that it does not go thru the tunnel this year?

To see time schedule on letour.fr, Entre du circuit (54.5 /90.0) will be right on the circuit corner and just 2.0km away from Place de la Concorde (52.5/92.0) if it go thru the tunnel...

Pls let me know. If it go thru tunnel, I will revise the KMZ.

Thanks,

nagoyan

Hello Nagoyan,

No I am not sure.

I would say you are the one knowing the tour de france better.

I am just the one playing with the technical issues.

Your track is probably the right one.
The "Itineraire! is saying 6.5 km for one round.

My track was 6.7, yours is 6.2.
I believe your version is the correct one.

By the way, can anyone give me a hint how to track the "contre la montre" on saturday??

How is www.letour.fr posting the info. I did not follow the other "contre la montre" stages.

When i see the format of the page and its not too complicate i can try to come up with a tracking during th race. so keep tuned in and lets hope i find a solution.

lucifer666,

Thanks for your reply.

>The "Itineraire! is saying 6.5 km for one round.
>My track was 6.7, yours is 6.2.

This is what I encounter while I am compiling the map all the time

I just found the TdF 2004 Champs-Elyses circuit map from Paris Pref Police , so I believe I should follow this one...
