I have added tidbits of info about most cities, to make it a learning experience.
So take a few minutes to stop the tour at each city and explore.

Before most of us have been able to detect it, what we have been calling a city has already changed. Im not referring to the medieval walled city, which has been long dead.

Im discussing the modern or contemporary city, which has culturally, politically, and physically metamorphosed beyond previous standards for recognition.
To some, this transformation has warranted the creation of new terms. In the past, the word metropolis was used to describe the extended twentieth century gridiron, which bristled with skyscrapers. Today the term megalopolis is used to describe the bewildering sprawl of mass transit systems, technology parks, entertainment complexes, strip malls, and bedroom communities which extend from older city edges, annihilating previous physical distinctions between city and hinterland, as well as previous geopolitical boundaries.

To the majority, however, the elusive word city still suffices to describe any settlement of particular size and socio-economic significance. The irony is that what we call a city is no longer inherently urban, or suburban, or even exurban. It is all these things and more. We would perhaps do better to describe the countryside, like the goatherd in Calvinos Cecilia4, or whatever is antithetical to the city.

In any case, what we must realize is that our old definition of city has been modified to address new forms of human development.

How about a KMZ for that would make it less tedious for those of us who choose to take your tour.

Good idea, but I wonder how to do it so that it does not result in double pinpoints?

Anyone?

It would be nice if there was descent resolution imagery of all these cities, I looked at a the list and of the 8 cities in my country, there 3 with partial coverage and another 5 with no good coverage what so ever, I know it sounds like I'm having a rant but I think anyone here on the bbs and anyone else using GE would love to see good imagery of that entire list of cities..... Yes, I'm hinting...

Wouldnt it be nice if we could have all those cities at good resolution with the next database upgrade?

I agree XzOrzeist you would think that some of those larger cities would be an excellent future market.

Wondering where you got this list. I live in Manila and rather than the 1.5M people indicated on the list, the population here at present is closer to 12M. Several of the other figures listed are way off the mark also. FYI
